...but I really like English bands...I've been trying to build my Last.FM profile, and my top band is The Beatles. Now don't get me wrong, I love music, but no one ever did it quite like they did, I don't know what it is, but there will never be another band quite like The Beatles.
I do have a fondness in my heart for Coldplay, the Stones, Radiohead, Oasis, Blur, Franz Ferdinand (Scots, but they'll do!), The Who, and Keane (Even though I think they're overrated and effeminate!), but none of them will ever touch The Beatles...
I remember as a kid watching in the mid-90's staying up late to watch The Beatles Anthology on ABC...even in my young age I was a devoted fan...I wished I had live in the same era as them, but now I am only able to look back at what they were...
I remember being sad when I found out that the band that sang about love and peace broke up because they couldn't get along. I wanted to blame it on Ringo, but knew that it was really John and Paul's fault.
I remember being sad when I found out John Lennon was killed months after I was born.
I remember asking my mother stories about the Beatles, who her favorite was (Paul), and what her favorite song was (Hey Jude).
I remember buying my first cassette tape of the Beatles (The Magical Mystery Tour). I listened to that tape over and over again, my favorite song was I am the Walrus. I wore that tape out!
Goo Goo G'joob!
Now I've got all the albums, now I can listen to my heart's content...but i still miss them.
